Volunteer Reviewers Wanted!

Our goal at DHAS is to insure the best quality transcripts reflecting as much as possible, the exact copy to the original manuscripts. The reviewer is the second set of eyes on this work, bringing the quality up to a higher standard.

A reviewer’s responsibility is to  compare each transcription received from our vendors to the actual handwritten manuscripts, and correct any errors or omissions the vendor may have made. Unlike a proofreader who corrects original errors, the reviewer insures that any corrections to spelling, grammar or punctuation the vendor may have inadvertently made, be removed to insure the text reflects the actual manuscript including errors.

In addition, the reviewer adds an element not part of the vendor’s responsibility, clarifying people names and places to insure clarity and consistency for computer retrieval purposes explained in the guidelines for our reviewers  below.

A Volunteer Reviewer training tutorial (DHAS Quaker Project) is on this page.

A big thank you for our current volunteer reviewers!
